Surprise Gift- Victoria Jackson Lipgloss purse

Hi all!

So I'm back from my few days away to Donegal, it was the best craic in ages! A group of us went for my friends 21st (mines is just around the corner) and she also leaves early September for Germany so it was a great last farewell for her to celebrate.

So when I got home my brother surprised me with this gift. He was away to Salou himself with his fiancé so I'm really surprised he picked me up something, not that I was complaining. The case alone I would have been happy about, it is stunning! A mock croc skin (I hope!) case that easily opens to reveals a sleek hidden pouch with two lip-glosses inside by Victoria Jackson. The case is also slim enough to hold my phone inside and maybe some ID, so it could well easily become my new purse for nights out.

The two lip-glosses I'm abit let down by. Then again however, I wasn't expecting anything therefore I had no hope in the first place so technically I can't complain. Now, Victoria Jackson is a brand that I am unaware of but a quick google search and she's an American brand that specialise in barely there make up, which I am not at all fond off. There were no shades on the glosses but they were double ended. At the end of each was a clear lip plumper. The colour end is what I was let down by.

On the left, it looks like a gorgeous deep burgundy red but what came out was barely even a hint of pink on the lips. The right shade was very shimmery that I don't really like so the colour glosses are abit useless to me, I may as well just wear the plumper alone. However, I will say that they are not at all sticky and are very moisturising and smell lovely. It was more of a very light tea tree smell, very fresh and tingly.

So all in all, a lovely surprise gift! Even though I am not so fond of the glosses I will always keep one handy inside on a night out for a quick touch up, along with my phone and ID that it now holds. Result!

Shopping haul

So my blogger reading darlings, this is a very quick post with just a few things I had picked up in the past week. I am very, very skint at the moment and need to save to go to Donegal next week so these are my justified spending's as they are mostly sale items.

I bought a cream blusher from Topshop that was on sale for only £3.00. I've been wearing this a lot lately and it really is great for a flush of colour. At first I was weary that it was too pink, but just one dot and it goes on very sheer. This cream blusher is in shade 'sneakpeek' and it is great to buff into the skin or just to rub in with your fingers. I don't think I would have bought it at full price though. I also bought from Topshop their liner brush. This is really great, and only for £4.00 it was really affordable. I use this for lining my eyes and also for smudging in my eyeliner for a softer finish and it gives great definition and easy to use. I also got a cheeky 10% discount on both items, being a skint student has its perks, even if it is just 70p.

The next two items come from one of my favourite shops ever. I adore Argento for affordable and high quality jewellery. I mainly buy from their Karma line of products but they cater for everyone and have a wide range of lines including Thomas Sabo, Pilgrimage and Pandora. In Belfast, there is this great Argento sale shop where I got these two beauties. I love big chandelier earrings and Argento is usually my go to place for these, along with cocktail statement rings. So I got these beautiful blue earrings for £5 and the very heavy perfume bottle chain for £8 in the sale.

I bought these little gems from Primark. The earrings were only £2.50 and the matching statement necklace was only £4. I was on the hunt for a good statement necklace and I love the pastel gem colours. I spotted a gorgeous statement piece in topshop for £60!!! No thank you, wouldn't even buy it at sale price. Some places really charge extortionate prices for costume jewellery.

Thats about it lovelies. All the best until then.

Look of today-earrings

I LOVE earrings!! Its my go to piece of accessory that I always make sure I am wearing when leaving the house, infact ive even planned my outfits around certain pairs to ensure they have full impact and are always on show.

So trailing through a few looks I can across this image and what really stood out to me was how the earrings played a central part in the assorted looks and took central position. They really grab your attention and focus in on the face, and with a stunning pair of faux sparkly diamonds they can really illuminate your face and make your eyes shine! If youre having a bad hair day and just scrape your hair into a bun, a gorgeous pair of drop earrings will distract the eyes to them and immediately you feel more chic and comfortable with your outfit.

So I really loved these tassel earrings which I have been admiring for a while, and the only place where I can really find them online (I havent really looked in any shops in town) at an affordable price was Argento. I love Argento and I'm lucky that I live in Belfast were the owner, Peter Boyle, originally set up his first shop and also have a sale shop were I always buy fabulous chandelier earrings at an amazing price. Their loyalty card is always a bonus, just a few more stamps away from a few pounds off my next purchase :)

So here are two images taken from Argento's website that I have found that fit in with the tassle trend that I am loving this season! I loved the dark red pair, but there are an assortment of colours and the dark gunmetal ball and chain pair really caught my attention!

So what do you think? Do you love earrings as well or can live without them? What is your go to accessory?

Dolce and Gabbana Couture show 2013

I just had to write a piece on this Dolce & Gabbana's private couture show in Milan, with only the elite of the elite were present. The audience was mainly filled with Russian Oligarchs, European royalty and Chinese millionaires as the Telegraph reported mainly due to that this collection is strictly for customers and not for celebs to be seeing strutting on the red carpet. In one sense I applaud this, as Jennifer Lawrence showed at the SAG awards last week she was able to wear couture Dior that was fresh off the catwalk only after a week, so celebs have the hottest picks of the latest collections, trends and even the fashion vaults such as when Lady GaGa was able to wear vintage Gianni Versace, I die!  So for the chance to for the exceedingly rich to own some couture without the risk of being caught dead in the same dress as an Oscar winner, its a no-brainer! First world problems eh?

But I do have to comment on these two dresses in particular, mainly this beautiful white wedding dress. I can only dream to get married in a dress like this, it is beautiful. And knowing the philosophy of Dolce & Gabbana it was only the finest Milanese lace made by the finest seamstresses hands to ensure absolute perfection! I mean look at it, its beautiful! Its very traditional in the sense that there's hardly any skin on show but look at all the detail, it really is an artform. The shape is very modern though and is quite sheer at the bottom, it took my breath away!

The gold dress is another masterpiece on its own that I can only imagine 16th and 17th century royalty would have worn. Everything about this dress screams imperial wealth and power, it truly is magnificent. The jewels on show was apparently diamonds and pearls fixed in gold as chandelier earrings and cocktail rings. Truly stunning. The types of pieces that will have its own place in an exhibition at a museum or for future designers and fashion historians to study for inspiration.

The Telegraph also notes that only a few fashion editors and newpapers were actually present. Of course, some press would be needed after the shows at Paris but this was stripped down in comparison, yet was distinctively Dolce in the surrounding with regal Milanese architecture. So only a few people in the fashion world got to see these beauties up close to wonder in its marvel, and only a lucky few will be able to afford this collection.

So stunning!

Do you agree?

Strawberry Threads part 2

So as promised, here are the rest of my jewellery collection that I have treasured the past few months from the lovely Deirdre O'Connor at Strawberry Threads. I actually also have a pistol gun chain in the style that Rihanna wears and my sister decided that she loved it more than me and I haven't seen it since :( gutted isnt the word and I will not rest until I get it back because I wore it with everything!
So just a wee talk through the jewellery:
-The pin up girl (that I talked about in the previous post )
-pair of earrings (set) these were an absolute bargain at £4.00 and have an authentic vintage feel to them which I love!
-Chain metal earrings, which were a free gift for being a loyal customer :) can't knock this site im telling ya!
-Flower plated chain, I think this may have been a fiver and it looks different everytime you wear it due to the clear glass so it adapts to whatever top your'e wearing
-butterfly and flower earrings with matching ring, these were around £4/£4.50 each.
-Gunmetal stud necklace, my fave after the stolen gun as I love edgy jewellery! This was only £8.00 and such good quality!
So there you have it! It is definitely worthwhile that you have a look at the range strawberry threads has to offer as they are so gorgeous and that extra personal touch just makes it all the more special when recieving your present.

Strawberry threads

http://strawberrythreads.bigcartel.com/

This is just a quick post to tell everybody about the fabulous and cutest online shop in Belfast! It is called strawberry threads and it is owned and administered by Miss Deirdre O'Connor and every last detail is done by her hand, there is no beating the quality and service. I have had the pleasure of owning a few bits and pieces from the collection and will be back for more! I got a new delivery today, a wee treat for myself and wanted to share just how lovingly packaged each personalised piece is which would be a great present to give to a friend or family member. Being a fan of retro pin up girls this chain just screamed out to me straight away and a choice of three, it was difficult to choose and it was only £9.00!

There was a choice of a laser cut out girl or two choices of glass plated images (girl in black or nude corset) and I have chosen the girl in the nude corset with the glass plated front and the added bow which I asked for and Deirdre did it free of charge and with the option of an added red heart, but I preferred just the bow :) even the card that each personalised gift comes with is hand made and individually decorated, it truly is one of a kind and a real wee Belfast gem! I'm going to try and get more images of what I have bought so far from Strawberry Threads and down the line I hope to ask Deirdre a few questions and maybe even a profile on her. Keep an eye out for her as she does be at local craft fairs and especially the Fashion Souk, which I just love!

Have a wee nosey on her website and facebook here:
