Shoes in the Asos sale

Hi lovelies!

Well I was hoping to start doing some OOTD snaps for the blog but my trusty sony ericsson phone just died and gave up on me :( it was a sad day, I loved that phone. Alas, I had to buy a replacement phone and came away with some sort of Samsung but only with a 2MP camera and NO FLASH! Whereas my last baby was a 5MP camera with flash, all different effects and even a 3D camera-which I never knew how to work but ah well!

Anyway, I want to focus more on the fashion side of things on this blog as I fell that I have lost my knack for it a bit. I am a total fashion junkie, watching the stars, the catwalks, the trends you name it. And without meaning to blow my own trumpet here I used to write some cracking fashion articles but Ive came across some sort of artistic writers block. Anna Wintour I am not, but I had a flair for writing about fashion, what to wear it with, for investing, the inspiration behind collections yadda yadda.

So anyhoo, to ease myself back in I was having a little look on Asos on their shoe sale. It has been noticeable if you will, along the fashion circle that platform heels just aren't in no more. And I blame Victoria Beckham  . Who else remembers when baby Harper was just born and Victoria was balancing her on her hip whilst still towering in the Louboutin Daffodils? I used to get vertigo for ever imaging walking in such a heel height and platform with a baby on my hip, oh the fear of falling!

Is nobody else not queasy at the thought of walking at that height with a babe on the arm? No, just me then?

Now however, she has ditched the platforms (but not the Louboutins) for, in my opinion, and even sexier heel. A proper heel as your feet are really put at an awkward angle and their is no platform to level things out if you will. I love this type of shoe. its the type of shoe that really lifts your posture, keeps your back aligned and gives that wiggle that Marilyn Monroe would be envious off. She has also been pictured in her brogues that she designed along with Manolo Blahnik for her S/S13 collection, so is this the end of the heel for Vicky? I hope not! For this woman is a style Queen in my opinion and she literally sets the height of whats acceptable for fashion.

Ahhhh much better Victoria!

I'm sure you have all witnessed the backlash of the platform among the high street, surely? Do not despair though for some of them are really GORGEOUS! I would recommend River Island to all my shoe loving friends, they have ditched the platform but have kept the heel height if that is what you all like ( I DO! ) with some beautiful caged sandals, blocked heels, strappy sandals. Whatever you're looking they have it!

IN LOVE with these bad boys. River Island £45

I actually bought a beautiful pair of black suede court heels form Zara, complete with studded ankle strap for only £20! I unveiled them for my first outing to my friends 21st last week and I felt so sophisticated being a reasonable height without towering over everybody. (I am quite tall, and when wearing platform 6inch heels I literally tower over everybody.) I also got loads of complements on the shoes, and coming from girls their was some serious shoe envy going on!

So the whole basis of this post was to find sexy strappy sandals/court shoes/no platform related heels at a cheap and reasonable price. Having a look online as some sort of sick pleasured enjoyment as I am so skint I am actually selling my shoes online, here is what I have come up with. I hope you enjoy :)

Asos £18

What I'm loving this week :)

Omg its couture week! Ive been watching with drool running down my face imagining ever owning a piece of couture. By far Versace blew me away and so did Ellie Saab, it was a deep contrast to the modern woman and the nostalgia of old glamour when women needed a ball gown for a special occassion. So jealous!

Also I got a few wee bargains in the zara sale. I called in to collect an order so I wouldnt get distracted, I got distracted regardless and ended up leaving with a beautiful pair of jade green trousers with the most amazing gold zip detailing along the top. The fit is perfect and it is just that extra attention to detail that makes the whole difference. The very soft and comfortable grey loose fit jumper is just perfect for what I was looking for, it can be worn both up and down. The shoes are killer! Omg I am in love with them! They make me feel so powerful and in control, if I was a businesswoman then I would wear these to the boardroom to show that I mean business, adore them! The shoes were £19.99, the trousers £17.99 and the top only £7.99.

What would complete this look would be this amazing knecklace from Sugar and Style that you can find here. Sorry I couldnt get an image, either my phone or the blogger app is playing up. Actually the new updated blogger app is rubbish!

Has anybody else been shopping at the sales? What did you pick up? I'd love to hear :)

Blog sale!

Hi guys! I'm having a blog sale, I need to get some spending money up for my holidays next month so here it goes! I though it would be easier than ebay as I do have a good few things and I will be adding to it. Im not sure how long i'll be keeping it open for but please keep in mind that I will be away from the 18th-25th June. Also, I currently have exams on in uni and teaching practise throughout June, so I will try and post these ASAP but will more than likely be at the weekend. Only open to UK and ROI residents only sorry!

Ok so everything will be 2nd class p+p royal mail to try and keep costs down.
I will charge £2.40 for each item but for the shoes they will be £4.00 without a box to keep costs down. If you are looking more than 1 item please email me or leave a message below and I will get back to you. I am thinking that if there is more than 1 item that can fit in one package then I will not charge additional prices, but if they need to be divided then I will have to charge extra but I will try everything I can to avoid this. Please email me for a price if you are ROI.

For the cosmetics because they are smaller I will only charge £1.00 for p+p, or if you buy an item of clothing and a cosmetic then there will not be an extra charge for the cosmetic.

Leave a comment below on what you would like and how many items and I will get back to you asap with the overall price, including delivery. I will also refund if delivery is lower than expected.

All necklaces will be £2.00 with a £1.00 delivery charge. If you are ordering more than one, there will be an additional 40p per item.

no7 eyeshadows brand new, never been used. A mixture of colours (sorry this picture doesnt do it much justice) matt and shimer shades, from a light beige, blue, green, brown and greyish black. Sorry but there is no description of the exact shades given.  £4.50

asos size 12 white tulip dress, BNWT. In perfect condition, there is a slight black marking that I have taken a picture off, but it is not very noticeable and Im sure that it will come out in the wash. Beautiful shape, quarter length sleeves, nips in at the waist with a voluminous bottom half and a tiny splt at the back. Very 1960's. it is quite see through however. Bought for £30, will sell for £15.

asos size 12 lace corset. this has only ben worn a handful of times, I'd say no more than 4 times if even. Beautiful shape, in perfect condition, zip runs down the front with moulded cups for support. Will sell for £8.

a pair of Pull and Bear oxblood leather look trousers. These are so ROCK N'ROLL! Size 12, skinny leg with low waist. zips at the bottom of each leg. Brand new with tags, these were bought on sale (£19.99 were originally £29.99 as the tag says) will sell for £13.

size 14 Lipsy dress. This was bought about 3 years ago at over £100, and it has only been worn twice. For my pre-formal and one New Years a few years ago, Ive never found an appropiate occassion to wear this dress as it is a beautiful cocktail dress. The coulours are a mixture of blues, greys and silevers to this beautiful sea like effect, the only way I can describe it. I had red hair at the time and I always felt like a mermaid in it, daft I know! Gorgeous boned strapless design, really pulls you in and gives support. Some pleats that gives a sligh peplum effect. the layered effect of this dress is just beautifula and is very flattering on. It is difficult to describe and these images do it no justice, but trust me it is beautiful! In perfect condition and is like new,  it has been in my wardrobe with a plastic covering. I will sell this for £30 but I am open to any offers. A size 14 but I would say it would fit a 12.

H&M bag shorts. Size 12. In excellent condition, high waisted with turn ups on each leg, and a belt to be tied into a bow. will sell for £5.

A gorgeous Mad Men style top! Peplum in style with a beautiful metallic finish. It is hard to describe the colour, in one light it looks like an off white metallic but with a silver sheen to it. Bought in Dunnes stores for £15, will sell for £6.00. A side zip and decorative buttons to the back, I loved this but did not fit. Even though its a 12 I would say it would fit a 10 also. There is a slight make up stain that I have only noticed, but once washed this will come out.

A pair of black jaquared print trousers. Size 14 from Dorothy Perkins from the Lux line. Only worn 12, too baggy for me to get the desired fit. A slim leg, high waisted with gold zip detailing, they look so expensive and give such a luxurious feel to any outfit. I would say that they would be a regualr length, so 32" on the leg but these are not exact measurements!! Will sell for £8.

Pair of Stylistpick Britt black wedges that are SOLD OUT ONLINE! RRP £45, size 6. I will sell these for £20 (Also open to offers). Remember that they will not be sent with a box to keep costs down. They are too high for me, brand new as you can see, still with stickers. they have just been worn around the house.

H&M pink skirt, size 14. I love this skirt, a real mini skirt in length, unfortunately my legs aren't what they used to be :( well loved but in excellent condition so will sell for £4.00.

Asos geometric print skirt size 12. In excellent condition, 2 large pockets on the side and is a mini skirt. Will sell for £4.00

Please refer to each piece of jewellery as the number given under each item. All £2.00

Style inspiration Ava Gardner

Ava Gardner is a truly inspiring woman!

I became intrigued with her after watching her biography on E! And immediately was captured with her beauty, her ability as an actress and her fiery personality. As a fashion icon she was like no other of her time, with a stunning hour glass figure, creamy skin and thick wavy hair she truly was a natural beauty. She contributed her flawless complexion to her Irish and Scottish heritage and always took care to cover up in the sun. Her beauty captured Hollywood and the worlds leading men such as mickey Rooney (husband #1) and frank Sinatra (hubby #3) who was her true love. There was always whispers towards her close relationship with the aviator Howard Hughes but she always denied this, despite his many proposals and said that he always stank of BO. So being a multi-millionaire can't buy personal hygiene?

After reading her autobiography I became even more in love with her as she led such an interesting life, and for quite a conservative society of the 1940's/1950's she broke out of the societal norms and was a true hell raiser with her drinking, smoking, swearing, the men and generally not given a damn about what anybody thought of her. Living in Spain with the one and only Ernest Hemingway led to her love for the bull fights, dancing and matadors who she had many affairs with.

She was never the 'darling' of Hollywood as she refused to live up to the squeaky clean persona that was expected of her and her contract of MGM, in fact once that contract was over she felt that was the only time she could truly flourish as an actress instead of playing the traditional femme fatal role. This period in her life she lived the way she wanted without rules and people watching her, and famously turned down the part to play Mrs. Robinson in the legendary film 'The Graduate' that would have cemented her place in cinematic history, but its a decision she never regretted.

A long time friend of Grace Kelly she was present at her wedding to the Prince of Monaco and these two women were defining the most stylish of her time. Her Spanish influence definitely shows throughout her fashion choices, although she was never too fussed on her appearance choosing not to wear make up or shoes whenever she could. Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel all the leading couture fashion houses loved to dress her for her fabulous figure. In her hometown of North Carolina there is an Ava Gardner musuem dedicated to her with some of her iconic outfits on show, this is something I need to see in my lifetime!

She is immortalised however, the famous song written by Frank Sinatra 'Im a fool to love you' was written for her to explain their passionate and tumultuous marriage, that ended in heartbreak.

Personally, I dont like to mimic stars for the simple fact that I like to have my own personal style but her classic glamour, jewels, wavey hair and make up has inspired stars after her such as Lana Del Rey today (another fashion love) and her personality has been likened to the infamous Samantha Jones due to being an independent woman who never depended on anybody but herself to get where she wanted in live. These are the type of women that I adore and look up to, they may not be traditional role models but they are the most realistic in the sense that they make mistakes and learn from them but never allow them to hold them back, it helps shapes them and this is what I find truly inspiring. Young stars today are awashed with publicity staff, PR people who have their conversations carefully planned out and in a world that is too concious of being politically correct, these sort of women are truly inspiring.

What do you think?
